Congratulations on your forthcoming Marriage.
If you live in St Mary’s Eaton Socon Parish and are getting married in another Church of England church, it is a legal requirement for you to have your Banns of Marriage read at St Mary’s as well as the church you are getting married in.
Banns of Marriage are read three times in the three months before you are due to get married.
At St Mary’s our practice is to usually read the Banns of Marriage at our Sunday 10.30am service.
After the third reading of the Banns, providing there have been no objections raised to your proposed marriage (this is very rare!), we issue you with a certificate that you give to the minister of the church marrying you.
There is a statutory charge for the reading of the Banns and the certificate.
The form you need to complete to enable us to read your Banns of Marriage can be found here. Once completed, please return it to the church office either in person, post or by email. Here are the church office details:
St Mary’s Church
Great North Road, Eaton Socon
St Neots, Cambs PE19 8EJ
Email: office@eatonsocon.org
Tel: 01480 352154
The church office is open most Tuesdays-Thursdays 9am-11.45am
A member of our team will then be in contact to confirm dates the Banns of Marriage will be read, together with payment details.
If you have any questions at any time, please contact us using the Contact Us form – we would be delighted to help.
