Kitchen Project 2021

Resourcing St Mary’s with a Kitchen to feed the Multitudes!

Those who have helped with the catering at St Mary’s in the past will know all about the frustrations of not having a suitable kitchen space onsite…! Many have dreamed of the day when St Mary’s has a workable Kitchen to help enhance and develop various ministries. After all, good food has a way of both attracting and blessing people, physically and spiritually speaking!

As we prepare for the time when we will be able to engage with each other and the community again, it is also a ’God time’ for us to reimagine what it means to be God’s Church.

Called to be both the dispersed and gathered community of faith, some parts of the life of St Mary’s will be different post Covid19.

Some ministries will change whilst new ones will emerge as we enter a brave new world.

The ability for people to gather around food, I believe, is going to be a key part of so many ministries going forward.

This is the time for the Kitchen to become a reality in the life of the church and community!!

Where will the Kitchen be located?

Through a careful re-ordering of the existing church hall space, it would be possible to create a Kitchen (11.7 sqm) in what is the Church Hall Boiler and neighbouring Storage Cupboards.

What will the Kitchen accommodate?

The Kitchen will accommodate a Commercial Oven with Extraction, Dishwasher, Fridge, Handwashing Sink, Mobile Hot Cupboard & Storage, meeting food safety regulations.

What about the existing Kitchenette?

The existing ‘Kitchenette’ would be refurbished as a dedicated refreshment point for Hot Drinks etc as part of the Kitchen Project. In addition we are upgrading the Electrics and Lighting in the Church Hall.
